Iona Morris wrote, directed and Exec. Produced her short CELESTE’S DREAMS and at the editing of this bio, was accepted into the Las Vegas Black Film Festival and the Marbella International Film Festival with more acceptances to come.  In theatre, Iona recently directed the one man show, BELAFONTE: Unauthorized, starring Austen Jaye, in Los Angeles.  She directed/acted in the multi-award winning comedy SASSY MAMAS; winning a Best Director award from the NAACP Theatre Awards.  Iona directed/co-wrote the star-studded sold out concert event, Broadway Under The Stars: 35th Anniversary of Dreamgirls starring the 3 originals Loretta Devine, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Holliday, directed the multi-award winning solo show BAG LADY written by and starring Tammi Mac which started touring May 2017, directed the comedian Michael Colyar in his one-man show MICHAEL COLYAR’S MAMA, directed several successful solo shows starring Jenifer Lewis, Kim Wayans, directed/co-wrote Blair Underwood’s one-man show IM4, directed/contributing monologuist for Penny Johnson Jerald’s solo show and many others. Iona directed the 21 person musical Sheba in L.A. and at the N.Y. Musical Theatre Festival, assistant directed Purlie and Ray Charles Live! under Sheldon Epps, at the Pasadena Playhouse.  She’s directedVAGINA MONOLOGUES many times with star-studded casts from coast to coast. She also wrote and starred in FOR YOU, her one-person show about her father, actor Greg Morris from the hit ’70’s series MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE, winning a Best Solo Performance Award from the NAACP Theatre Awards.  When not directing or writing, Iona is the Dialogue Coach on the hit ABC Comedy BLACKish.
